AT&T plans to introduce mobile 5G service in a dozen markets by late this year (2018), saying it expects to be the first U.S. operator to do so. In a release, the company updated its other efforts to improve connectivity through fixed wireless access and IoT services.
Verizon, Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies completed a trial of frequency-division duplex (FDD) massive MIMO on Verizon’s network in Irvine, California. The companies said this was the first successful FDD massive MIMO trial with a fully compatible customer device.
