Read this review of the various test solutions offered today for mmWave semiconductor development and testing. Companies covered include Anritsu, Focus, FormFactor, Keysight, Maury, NI, R&S, Roos and Teradyne.

To ensure a fast and economic development of the new generation of IoT devices, module and chip makers have created a number of prototyping kits, developing platforms and reference designs that makes sure that any IoT engineer has everything ready to create an unlimited number of applications just bounded by imagination. From chipset, to sensors and embedded antennas, those IoT open hardware platforms have everything ready to create the newest IoT device in a jiffy.

Most Tier-1 and Tier-2 radar manufacturers such as Veoneer (Autoliv), Bosch, Continental, Delphi, Valeo, etc., are developing new automotive radars to overcome new challenges with autonomy. Most major players do not like to disclose what they are currently developing. Therefore, we can only discuss their existing sensors. On the contrary, startups usually do not hesitate to tell us much more about their products. This article highlights some of the major improvements we are likely to see in future radars covering the new startups.

In this survey, I only included 77 and 79 GHz radar sensors and ICs as 24 GHz sensors will be sunset by 2022. Therefore, companies like ADI, Valeo, Hella, UMS, etc., that are currently mostly involved in only the 24 GHz solutions are not included but expect many of them to move into the higher frequency solutions soon.
