Rohde & Schwarz now offers a new R&S FSW signal and spectrum analyzer that covers the frequency range from 2 Hz to 43.5 GHz. Its high RF dynamic range, measurement speed and numerous functions make the R&S FSW43 an excellent microwave analyzer. The displayed average noise level of –164 dBm with preamplifier switched on is very low in the microwave range. With a phase noise of –117 dBc (Hz) at 40 GHz and 10 kHz carrier offset, the analyzer allows high-sensitivity measurements even close to the carrier, e.g. on radar signals.

Agilent Technologies Inc. announced the opening, at the University of Leeds, of the first Agilent-equipped terahertz measurement laboratory in Europe. The new laboratory will enable research on devices, components, circuits and systems at much higher frequencies than any other institution in the region has been able to do before.

Cobham plc has established a new strategic business unit (SBU) – Cobham SATCOM – that combines all of the Group’s satellite communications businesses into one organisation, following the successful acquisition and integration of Danish satcom company Thrane & Thrane earlier this year. Thrane & Thrane will trade as Cobham SATCOM from November 2012, and will form the core of the new SBU.

Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) introduced an RF clock IC, (radio frequency clock integrated circuit) with the industry’s lowest jitter for communications and instrumentation equipment that requires high-speed data conversion and optimum SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) performance. The AD9525 RF clock IC achieves absolute broadband rms (root-mean square) jitter of 83-fs (1-kHz to 100-MHz offset range), at 245.76 MHz, including jitter contribution from the external VCO (voltage-controlled oscillator).

Northrop Grumman Corp. has developed a line of gallium nitride (GaN) Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs) for military and commercial uses. These devices represent the first commercial availability of GaN-based components from the company.

Agilent Technologies Inc. announced expanded capabilities for the N934x C family of rugged handheld spectrum analyzers. The additional features give the HSA enhanced versatility for in-field applications like instrument remote control and peak power measurement of pulsed signals.

AWR Corp. announces the commercial release and immediate availability of Analyst. Analyst is a full featured, 3D EM industry standard FEM simulator that is completely integrated into AWR’s Microwave Office circuit simulation environment.

Texas Instruments Inc. introduced a pair of devices supporting the JEDEC JESD204B serial interface standard for data converters. 

Vaunix Technology Corp., a manufacturer of USB controlled and powered test equipment, has announced its new LSW Series Switch products. This new Lab Brick product family has a 10 W power handling capability and offers reliable, high isolation, low power and low cost solid state switch products in both single pole double throw (SPDT) and single pole four throw (SP4T) configurations.
