Anritsu Corporation announced that its New Radio RF Conformance Test System ME7873NR has been certified by PTCRB as the industry’s first system for mmWave band frequency range 2 (FR2) radio resource management (RRM) tests. The ME7873NR achieved world-first certification by PTCRB for 5G NR FR2 non-standalone (NSA) mode RRM tests at the PTCRB meeting in June 2021, following GCF approval at the CAG meeting in April 2021.

FR2 RRM tests focus on measuring UE connection stability and mobility operation as key aspects in assuring effective use of limited wireless resources. In this certification process, Anritsu has made important contributions in the form of technical documents submitted to 3GPP RAN5 meetings to help in the development of 5G FR2 RF Conformance Test standards.

Anritsu is committed to continuing its role in deployment of widespread commercial 5G services by obtaining further certifications for 5G RF/RRM tests in the future.

New Radio RF Conformance Test System ME7873NR Outline

The ME7873NR is an automated system for 3GPP TS 38.521/TS 38.533 5G NR RF and RRM tests. It supports 5G NR standalone (SA) and NSA modes. In addition, combination with the CATR Anechoic Chamber MA8172A for 5G over-the-air compact antenna test range (CATR) covers all 5G frequency bands, including 3GPP frequency range (FR1) Sub-6 GHz and FR2 mmWave bands. The flexible system configuration of the ME7837NR allows it to be easily customized to meet required test and measurement specifications.

As an additional benefit, Anritsu’s earlier LTE-Advanced RF Conformance Test System ME7873LA can be upgraded easily to the more advanced ME7873NR system for 5G. This creates a cost-efficient path to 5G test systems.
