Early adopters of 5G technology have begun to take advantage of numerous initial 5G network rollouts in 2019, according to 5G Americas.

U.S. fears that Huawei is an existential threat to the security of western democracies have precipitated a series of events building a digital divide, a divide separating the communications networks using Huawei equipment from those where it is shunned. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said the U.S. government will “shortly” issue licenses to allow some suppliers to ship some U.S. products to Huawei, although he cautioned that the export restrictions imposed in May presume any license application will be denied.
