HUBER+SUHNER has launched two compact, outdoor antennas for 4G and 5G deployments. The SENCITY® Urban 100 and 200 MIMO antennas cover sub-6 GHz 4G and 5G frequency bands and are compact for discreet installation in street furniture, such as bus shelters, poles and walls.

Faced with the challenge of providing cost-effective 4G and 5G coverage in urban areas, operators are deploying small cells to increase capacity and coverage, particularly where networks are increasingly congested from the growing number of wireless devices. However, adding new cell sites in urban areas is very challenging, with only limited space available for installation and restrictions by municipal governments.

The SENCITY Urban 100 is a 2 x 2 MIMO antenna covering 2500 to 2690 MHz and 3410 to 4200 MHz. It provides either omnidirectional coverage with 2–3 dBi gain and vertical and horizontal polarization or directional coverage with 6 dBi gain and dual slant polarization. The round design measures 4.6 in. x 3.8 in.

The SENCITY Urban 200 is a 2 x 2 MIMO antenna covering 1695 to 2690 MHz and 3410 to 4200 MHz. It is available in models with either 70 or 110 degree horizontal half-power beamwidth, the former with 7.5 dBi gain, the latter with 6 dBi gain. The rectangular design measures 6.5 in. x 7.3 in. x 3.3 in.

“Operators are under pressure to provide widespread, fast 4G and 5G coverage in urban areas where space is limited and existing infrastructure is condensed, and our unique range of outdoor MIMO antennas can play a major role in overcoming these challenges in small cell deployment. At the moment there are no other antennas on the market that are as compact as the SENCITY Urban 100 and 200 that cover 4G and 5G bands.” — Claudia Bartholdi, HUBER+SUHNER product manager
