Analog Devices Inc. (ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal-processing applications and leading provider of RF ICs (radio frequency integrated circuits), announced the release of a PLL synthesizer that offers leading phase noise performance. An upgrade to the widely used 4-GHz ADF4153 fractional-N PLL, the new, pin- and software-compatible ADF4153A PLL synthesizer facilitates improved integrated phase noise in a variety of applications including communications infrastructure, pulse-Doppler and FMCW (frequency-modulated continuous-wave) radar applications, test and instrumentation equipment, microwave point-to-point systems, PMR (professional mobile radio), VSATs (very small aperture terminals) and aerospace systems.
When the 15th European Microwave Week tookplace at the RAI Conference Centre Oct 28 - Nov 1 it marked four years since the Week last visited the canal city of Amsterdam. Read Richard Mumford's summary of the show in this article and David Vye's account of the show here.
NXP Semiconductors N.V. announced two 5V wideband IQ modulator devices that combine high dynamic range with fast on/off switching performance for use in radio frequency up-conversion. Operating between 400 MHz and 4 GHz, the BGX7100 and BGX7101consume less than 1 W power – 10-percent more efficient than other solutions on the market today.
TriQuint Semiconductor Inc., a leading RF products manufacturer and foundry services provider, is rolling out new processes to more quickly expand its catalog of broad-market products for commercial and defense customers. As a result, TriQuint will spotlight 12 new products at European Microwave Week in Amsterdam, October 29-31.
Space for Microwaves is the theme for European Microwave Week 2012 and on Tuesday evening space for around a 1,000 delegates and exhibitors was set aside in the Elicium, Amsterdam RAI to enjoy the Agilent Technologies sponsored Welcome Reception. However, there was definitely no space for microwaves in the kitchens as the buffet that offered a choice of Continental and Asian food, was of very high standard!
Rohde & Schwarz has enhanced its fully integrated R&S SGS100A by adding a model for I/Q modulated signals from 80 MHz to 12.75 GHz. Combined with an I/Q baseband generator, the instrument can be used to generate test signals for all radio standards in this frequency range. As a result, the R&S SGS100A is ideal for X-band signals from 8 GHz to 12 GHz for radar and satellite communications. The I/Q modulator's wide RF bandwidth of 1 GHz makes it possible to generate pulses with high chirp bandwidths and steep pulse edges.
Rohde & Schwarz now offers a new R&S FSW signal and spectrum analyzer that covers the frequency range from 2 Hz to 43.5 GHz. Its high RF dynamic range, measurement speed and numerous functions make the R&S FSW43 an excellent microwave analyzer. The displayed average noise level of –164 dBm with preamplifier switched on is very low in the microwave range. With a phase noise of –117 dBc (Hz) at 40 GHz and 10 kHz carrier offset, the analyzer allows high-sensitivity measurements even close to the carrier, e.g. on radar signals.
Vaunix Technology Corp., a manufacturer of USB controlled and powered test equipment, has announced its new LSW Series Switch products. This new Lab Brick product family has a 10 W power handling capability and offers reliable, high isolation, low power and low cost solid state switch products in both single pole double throw (SPDT) and single pole four throw (SP4T) configurations.
San-tron Inc., a leading manufacturer of RF and microwave coaxial connectors and cable assemblies, has introduced its new line of SRX™ cable assemblies for low PIM requirements. The SRX line is an engineered suite of low PIM cable assemblies designed to support system integrators. Several different deployment scenarios encompassing cabinet integration, short cable runs or jumper applications, long haul cable runs, indoor use, outdoor use, riser, and plenum environments, have been accommodated for and include interconnect options for SMA, N, 7/16, and TNC mating.
TriQuint Semiconductor Inc., a leading RF products manufacturer and foundry services provider, is introducing four new rugged GaN HEMT RF power transistors that offer superior gain and efficiency. TriQuint’s GaN transistors can cut the size of amplifier line-ups in half while improving efficiency and gain.
