Broadcom's 40nm RF leads the industry in size and power

ABI Research reports that Broadcom has put into production one of the world’s smallest multimode (GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS) transceivers. The sub 7 sq. mm. 40nm RF chip (BCM2193) was revealed just one week after the discovery of the 40nm RF chip announced last week. Broadcom’s chip was discovered second but it may actually have hit production a week or two prior to the Mediatek solution.

Raytheon helps missile defense agency counter ballistic missile threat

Raytheon Co. delivered its eighth AN/TPY-2 radar to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in support of the U.S. combatant commands. An integral capability of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS), AN/TPY-2 is a mobile, X-Band phased-array radar that helps protect the U.S., deployed forces, and America's friends and allies by searching, acquiring and tracking threat ballistic missiles and discriminating between threats and non-threats.

Giga-tronics Announces the Sale of Its SCPM Product Line to Teradyne for Approximately $1,000,000

Giga-tronics Incorporated, a leading provider of test and measurement equipment, announced that it has entered into an Asset Purchase Agreement with Teradyne, Inc. ("Teradyne"), of North Reading, Massachusetts, pursuant to which it agreed to sell to Teradyne its product line known as SCPM for approximately $1,000,000. The closing of the sale is expected to occur on or about April 1, 2013.
