ON Semiconductor, a premier supplier of high performance silicon solutions for energy efficient electronics, has introduced a new series of active spread spectrum clock generator integrated circuits (ICs) that manage electromagnetic interference (EMI) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) at the clock source, delivering system-wide EMI reduction of all clock dependent signals.

Rohde & Schwarz now offers a new R&S FSW signal and spectrum analyzer that covers the frequency range from 2 Hz to 43.5 GHz. Its high RF dynamic range, measurement speed and numerous functions make the R&S FSW43 an excellent microwave analyzer. The displayed average noise level of –164 dBm with preamplifier switched on is very low in the microwave range. With a phase noise of –117 dBc (Hz) at 40 GHz and 10 kHz carrier offset, the analyzer allows high-sensitivity measurements even close to the carrier, e.g. on radar signals.

Agilent Technologies Inc. announced expanded capabilities for the N934x C family of rugged handheld spectrum analyzers. The additional features give the HSA enhanced versatility for in-field applications like instrument remote control and peak power measurement of pulsed signals.

Cambridge Broadband Networks (CBNL) and NEC Europe Ltd. have announced a major agreement with QSC to provide high-speed wireless internet access to its enterprise customers. QSC, among the leading mid-size providers of ICT services in Germany, is installing CBNL’s VectaStar multipoint microwave equipment to meet the high-capacity internet demands of its enterprise customers across several cities in Germany. QSC’s initial deployment will consist of VectaStar access points and remote terminals, using the available 26GHz spectrum.

Aeroflex Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Aeroflex Holding Corp., announced that the TM500 LTE-A Test Mobile now supports carrier aggregation for Time Division Duplex (TDD), in addition to its existing Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) capability. Carrier aggregation, a key component of LTE-A, allows multiple carriers comprised of either contiguous or non-contiguous spectrum to be added together, allowing wider channel bandwidths - and higher data rates - to be achieved.

A highlight at the Rohde & Schwarz booth at the electronica trade fair in Munich, Germany is the new R&S ESR EMI test receiver. Thanks to its broadband architecture, it performs standard-compliant disturbance measurements up to 6000 times faster than other solutions.

RF Editor Version 3.0 is more intuitive, faster, and adds useful features that expand its capabilities.

Two thirds of small cell base stations will be deployed in bands above 2.2 GHz by 2016, compared to fewer than 40 percent in 2013, according to the latest research report by Maravedis-Rethink entitled, "Transforming the Mobile Data Network: Operator Strategies for Profitable Small Cell Networks 2012-2016," based on a global survey of mobile operators.
