AntennaWare announced a partnership with SynchronicIT, a module vendor based in the Netherlands. SynchronicIT are experts in indoor localization and ultra-wideband technology to help enable real-time location systems (RTLS) to a granular level based on their Omlox Tag Stack.
Ultra-wideband (UWB) is a maturing radio technology with superior timing and location tracking capabilities and offers unparalleled precision, measuring distances at the centimetre level. However, the problem that has held back wide-spread adoption of UWB for wearables, is body-blocking or body-absorption and limits use cases to non-real-time applications rather than mission or life critical projects. UWB radios placed on any conductive surface (either human, animal or metal bodies) will suffer detuning and result in unreliable and sub-optimal data being generated.
AntennaWare with the BodyWave™ antenna, based on patented technology, can improve link margins for on-body and on-metal use cases from 6 to 12 dB in non-line-of-sight. These gains result in a material increase in range and/or a significant reduction in power i.e. "Double the distance, half the power." This ensures that UWB can now be trusted to provide reliable real-time data for body-worn and metal placed products.
AntennaWare’s CEO and co-founder Dr. Gareth Conway comments, "Antennaware with our patented Bodywave™ antennas have proven the market needs in UWB with a number of high-profile products. This announcement with SynchronicIT will help other companies improve their RTLS integration process and their time-to-market."
Vincent Van Der Locht, CEO of SynchronicIT said "We're on a mission to revolutionize UWB-based RTLS. For human-centric applications the Antennaware’s Bodywave™ delivers the improvements in link margin and reliability needed to become the gamechanger for the UWB market"
