Micro Harmonics Corporation has announced the launch of its newest mmWave voltage-variable attenuator (VVA) that harnesses Faraday rotation technology. The WR-8 VVA is optimized for systems operating in the 90 to 140 GHz frequency range, delivering full band performance.

This product offers system designers a transformative tool for high-performance signal management where traditional PIN-diode or resistive attenuators fall short.

Key Advantages and Specifications:

  • Low Loss: < 1.0 dB average insertion loss across the full band
  • Fast, Long-Lasting Electrical Tuning: Voltage-controlled Faraday rotation enables rapid electrical tuning with no moving parts to wear out
  • Compact Formfactor: Compact size enables easy integration into electrical systems
  • Flexible Integration: Available in WR-6.5, WR-8 and WR-10 waveguide configurations
  • ESD insensitive
  • High power handling capability: 2.4 W
  • Low VSWR.

Each unit is fully characterized on a vector network analyzer, and the data is provided to the customer.
