Sensrad AB, a Swedish deep-tech radar company, announced that WATCHIT has placed its first order for Sensrad’s Hugin D1 Radar following six months of collaboration and system evaluation.
WATCHIT has developed a first-of-its-kind collision prevention system for recreational boats. Inspired by automotive safety breakthroughs, the system autonomously assesses risk using proximity sensing and marine AI. By harnessing real-time data from the boat’s existing sensors and a dedicated sensor — including Sensrad’s high-resolution Hugin D1 radar, powered by Arbe’s technology — WATCHIT delivers reliable perception and navigation support in all weather and lighting conditions.
WATCHIT is designed to detect nearby hazards such as floating objects, semi-submerged obstacles and close-range threats. It empowers captains to stay focused, act decisively and avoid costly accidents — without adding complexity or distraction.
“After six months of joint testing, WATCHIT’s order is a clear confirmation of the value our radar brings to maritime safety,” said Marcus Hasselblad, CEO Sensrad. “We are proud to see the Hugin D1 moving from evaluation to adoption in such an innovative application.”
“We built WATCHIT to bring the same kind of proactive safety you’d expect in a modern car to the water. Sensrad’s radar gives us the precision and reliability we need to push that vision forward. This is a major step toward making smarter boating the new standard,” said Tal Duvdevany, CEO of WATCHIT.
This milestone highlights the versatility of Sensrad’s radar technology beyond defense and commercial vehicles, opening new opportunities in the maritime safety sector.
