1. You joined Axiro Semiconductor earlier this year; can you please tell us about your background and what led you to Axiro?

Axiro was born through a strategic divestiture from Renesas, where I had been leading the business unit. When the opportunity emerged to continue the journey as an independent company, under the Murugappa Group, it felt like the right fit. I was deeply involved in the transition and worked with our teams to ensure continuity for customers while positioning the business for long-term success.

My background is in RF, analog and SoC design, and stepping into the CEO role gives me the opportunity to bring together that technical depth with organizational leadership. What excites me is the chance to scale Axiro into a globally competitive semiconductor company.

2. You have a very strong leadership background. What inspired you to pursue management roles, and what are your goals as the Axiro CEO?

I have always been technically oriented, but I realized early on that combining engineering expertise with business direction could have a far bigger impact. Leadership became a natural progression, bridging deep technical knowledge with strategic decision-making.

At Axiro, my goal is to build a company that is technically world-class, operationally disciplined and relentlessly customer focused. I also see this as an opportunity to mentor the next generation of leaders in semiconductors and foster a culture of innovation across geographies.

3. Can you tell us a bit more about Axiro’s structure, history and global impact?

Axiro was established in April this year, 2025, with a strong starting position—proven IP, customer traction and revenue from day one. Backed by the Murugappa Group, we combine the agility of a young, engineering-first company with the credibility and stability of a large enterprise.

We are structured as a multinational organization with design centers in San Diego, Bengaluru, Istanbul and Shanghai. This global footprint gives us access to some of the best talent pools and enables us to stay close to our customers across regions. Our leadership team is highly technical, with decades of experience in RF, mixed-signal and system-level design.

4. Many fabless semiconductor companies are entering the scene — what is the biggest advantage of being fabless?

We are firmly in the fabless camp, and for good reason. Being fabless gives us the flexibility to choose the best foundry and process node for each product. The maturity of foundry ecosystems today eliminates many of the barriers that existed a decade ago. While vertical integration can offer cost control in some cases, we believe the strategic flexibility and innovation speed of the fabless model far outweigh any marginal cost advantage.

5. What values drive Axiro’s roadmap?

Customer centricity is at the core. We spend a lot of time trying to anticipate what our customers will need 12 to 36 months from now and aligning our roadmap accordingly. That includes not just the technology itself, but how we deliver it. Performance, scalability, time-to-market and support all matter. Our roadmap is shaped by a blend of technical curiosity and commercial awareness.

6. What advantages does Axiro have over its competitors?

At Axiro, we bring a strong legacy of circuit-level innovation combined with deep expertise across process technologies, including GaAs pHEMT, GaAs HBT, GaN, RF SOI, CMOS and BCD. We do not take a one-size-fits-all approach. We carefully select the circuit architecture and the process for each application, which gives us the ability to deliver better performance, power efficiency and cost balance. That design discipline, combined with our global talent base, gives us an edge across infrastructure, satcom, radar and emerging connectivity applications. We have also built credibility with Tier 1 customers globally, which means our teams are designing to world-class benchmarks from the outset.

7. What steps are you taking to keep your competitive edge in such a fast-paced industry segment?

We stay competitive by staying curious and building momentum through execution. We also work closely with our foundry, packaging and EDA partners, not just as vendors, but as collaborators. We are always on the lookout for better tools, faster workflows and circuit innovation that makes a real difference. Culturally, we reward initiative, clarity of thought and a willingness to challenge the status quo. We also place a strong emphasis on ecosystem engagement — working not just with partners, but also with universities and early-stage companies that bring fresh ideas and approaches.

8. What is the most exciting advancement you’ve seen in the industry in recent years?

AI is going to change everything. We are still in the early innings, but you can already see its impact on how we design, simulate, test and even define new products. Over the next few years, the tools and the required skillsets will evolve dramatically. Traditional barriers to entry into markets will be lowered, and many of the rules we have taken for granted in

semiconductor development will be rewritten. It is exciting and a bit humbling. Companies that do not adapt quickly will fall behind.

9. Is there anything else you would like our readers to know about Axiro?

Axiro may be a new name, but we are built on a strong foundation of technology, customers and global talent. Our ambition is to be a global reference in RF and mixed-signal innovation, serving customers across telecommunications, aerospace and advanced connectivity.

We are growing steadily, building international partnerships and investing in innovation that makes a real difference. If you are passionate about semiconductors—whether as a customer, partner or engineer—Axiro is a company to watch, and we welcome opportunities to collaborate.
