Continental Resources (ConRes) has expanded its high volume test services with the R&S CMX500 and R&S CMW500 radio communication testers for 5G device testing and 4G/LTE device testing respectively. The R&S CMX500 and R&S CMW500 from Rohde & Schwarz are now available from ConRes for purchase or rent to meet high volume 5G mobile device testing requirements.
Designed for signaling and non-signaling tests in all 5G frequency bands, including sub 6 GHz (FR1) and mmWave (FR2) frequency bands, the R&S CMX500 seamlessly integrates with the R&S CMW500 to simplify the testing roadmap from 4G/LTE to 5G. As 4G/LTE and 5G will coexist for years to come, the combination of the R&S CMX500 and R&S CMW500 radio communication testing platform eliminates risk and future-proofs volume manufacturing testing systems.
In high volume testing of mobile phones, test time and reliability are critical. Measurements must reflect real use case scenarios to ensure impactful, meaningful data that yields accurate failure rates. False failure rates slow manufacturing and slow the time-to-market. This is especially critical by the introduction of new technologies with new behavior like non-standalone (NSA) mode in 5G, which requires an LTE anchor.
When used together, the R&S CMX500 and R&S CMW500 provide a test platform capable of testing 2G, 3G, WLAN 802.11ac and ax, LTE Release 8-15 including VoLTE and 5G NR devices in both standalone (SA) and NSA, TDD and FDD modes. ConRes is taking advantage of these capabilities to cover the latest 5G RF test requirements combined with existing test plans.
“Continuity with established testing methodologies and toolsets guarantees an easy transition from LTE to 5G. The R&S CMX500 radio communication tester combined with the industry standard R&S CMW500 is the perfect solution for high volume phone testing,” said Jim Keady, VP of ConRes. “And with the same user interface, there is no need for line personnel and technicians to learn something new, just a matter of adding the R&S CMX500 for 5G signaling along with the latest R&S CMW500 hardware.”
