MATERIAL

* Controlled Expansion Aluminum-silicon Alloy

This controlled expansion Al/Si alloy (CE17) is designed to provide a lightweight alternative to copper or a low expansion alternative to conventional aluminum alloys. CE17 has a matching coefficient of expansion to copper (17 ppm/°C) but is less than one third the weight and is easier to machine. Compared to conventional aluminum alloys, CE17 has a lower coefficient of expansion (17 compared to 23 ppm/°C) and is therefore ideal for supporting fiber circuit boards or other electronic devices where the use of conventional aluminum can cause problems with thermal mismatch. Furthermore, the new alloy can be rapidly CNC machined to high tolerances and the resulting product exhibits excellent thermal stability and high stiffness values. CE17 is currently being manufactured in large quantities in plate form up to 15" square, although other product sizes and shapes are also available. Applications include PCB carrier plates, pallets, base plates and packages.

* Low Profile TCXOs

MWJ5248 The FOX801BE series of low profile temperature-compensated crystal oscillators (TCXOs) has a standard frequency of 20 MHz. The oscillators add to the choices available for wireless and other applications requiring a cost-competitive, stable, temperature-compensated source. The TCXOs occupy the small footprint favored by the frequency control industry and has a profile only 2 mm high, making them ideal where headroom is a critical consideration. These oscillators utilize the industry's standard pinout configuration. The FOX801BE series displays inclusive frequency stability of ±2.5 ppm over a frequency range of 10 to 22 MHz. Operating temperature is from 30° to +75°C, with a choice of 3 or 5 V. Price: under $5 each (10,000).

* Ultra Low Noise, Low Harmonic 90 to 120 MHz VCO

MWJ5249 The model MW500-1163 voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) provides an unprecedented low phase noise of 143 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset, 122 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz, 100 dBc at 1 kHz and 160 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz. Tuning voltage is 0 to 10 V, supply is +5 V at 20 mA and harmonics are below 18 dBc. Pushing and pulling are only 0.01 MHz/V and 0.2 MHz, respectively. Power output is +5 dBm up to 100 MHz and +1 dBm at 120 MHz. The VCO can also be supplied without the harmonic filter, in which case the output is +5 dBm up to 140 MHz (at 13 V tuning). Harmonics are 5 dBc with this option. Both versions are very stable; temperature drift is only 0.02 MHz/°C. They can also (with 0.5 Vt ) cover the 88 to 108 MHz FM broadcast band, providing the basis for a very low noise, low cost FM transmitter for state-of-the-art audio. Size: 0.50" * 0.15".
