Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions for communication & military markets introduces five new SMT packaged MMIC Band-Pass Tunable Filters which are ideal for pre-selection applications in wideband test and measurement equipment, communication systems and electronic warfare (EW) subsystems up to 37.0 GHz. These analog-tuned MMIC filters are insensitive to environmental conditions, while their small physical size provides a superior alternative to competing resonant cavity and MEMS solutions.

The HMC894LP5E, HMC895LP4E, HMC896LP4E, HMC898LP4E, and HMC899LP4E are Tunable MMIC Band Pass Filters (BPF) which enable continuously variable selection of the filter pass band based on an analog control voltage from 0 to +14V. Depending on the product selected and the frequency of operation, the pass band frequency can be tuned from 1 to 37 GHz, while the 3 dB filter bandwidth ranges from 6% to 35%.

The HMC894LP5E, HMC895LP4E, HMC896LP4E, HMC898LP4E, and HMC899LP4E are fabricated in a monolithic process which makes them insensitive to microphonics, while exhibiting very fast tuning of 200 ns. Compared to physically large switched filter banks and cavity tuned filters, these compact SMT packaged filters can save as much as 90 % of the required printed circuit board area. Return losses for this filter family are typically better than 10 dB, with residual phase noise of -160 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset.

The HMC894LP5E, is housed in a compact, RoHS compliant 5 x 5 mm QFN SMT plastic package, while the HMC895LP4E, HMC896LP4E, HMC898LP4E, and the HMC899LP4E are housed in RoHS compliant 4 x 4 mm QFN SMT plastic packages.

Samples and evaluation PC boards for all SMT packaged products are available from stock and can be ordered via the company's e-commerce site or via direct purchase order. Released data sheets are available on-line at the company’s website. Click the link below our logo on this page.
