Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions for communication & military markets, announces the first dual mode medium power amplifiers for microwave radio and military applications that operate in the frequency band of 9.5 to 11.5 GHz. These innovative amplifiers are ideal for use in point - to - point radio, VSAT, military and space applications where high power, high gain and low power consumption is required. The HMC608 and HMC608LC4 are GaAs PHEMT MMIC Amplifiers that deliver a typical gain of 31dB, an OIP3 of +33dBm and a noise figure of only 5.5 dB. These amplifiers also offer the system designer a choice of two different modes of operation, a high gain mode which delivers 31dB of gain while consuming 310mA of DC current, or a low gain mode providing 22dB and consuming only 67mA. This optional mode of operation contributes to an overall power savings of 80% when the high gain state is not required and is easily controlled by altering the impedance state of the pin, Vpd. Typical Output P1dB is +27dBm and input and output return losses are 12dB and 20dB respectively. The HMC608 and HMC608LC4 are excellent choices for LO buffer or driver requirements within X-Band radar applications where current solutions involve discrete components and labor intensive tuning. The HMC608LC4 is conveniently housed in a 4x4 mm RoHS compliant surface mount package and specified for operation over -40°C to +85°C. For Hybrid MIC and MCM assembly, the HMC608 die is available and specified for operation over the -55°C to +85°C temperature range. Die, SMT and evaluation PC boards are available from stock and can be ordered via the company’s e-commerce site or via direct purchase order.
