BARCELONA, Spain--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 13, 2007--Skyworks Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ:SWKS), an innovator of high performance analog and mixed signal semiconductors enabling mobile connectivity, today enhanced its InteraTM family of power amplifiers and front-end modules, adding a new high-power, high-efficiency quad-band solution compatible with system-on-chip (SoC) architectures designed for handsets in emerging markets. The new SKY77531, which is part of the company's InteraLiteTM portfolio of solutions targeted at emerging markets, provides many of the same competitive advantages as the company's dual-band transmit and receive GSM/GPRS front-end module - low cost and small form factor. Integrating a power amplifier, PA controller and pHEMT switch, the front-end module leverages the company's advanced manufacturing techniques to reduce the RF footprint and overall bill-of-materials - two key challenges OEMs face when designing low-cost phones. In emerging markets, both consumers and operators require handsets that are inexpensive, yet meet or exceed specific requirements for size, quality, and reliability. Given its high-power efficiency, this solution also maintains overall thermal performance and improves battery life. "Skyworks is delighted to be an industry leader in providing cost-effective, high-performance solutions for emerging markets," said Liam K. Griffin, senior vice president, sales and marketing for Skyworks. "Our new front-end module complements our existing portfolio, furthering our partnerships with baseband suppliers and OEMs who leverage system-on-a chip architectures as part of their low-end handset platforms." According to Strategy Analytics, the global market for sub-$40 ultra low-cost handsets (ULCH) will be over 150 million units in 2010 - up from 19 million in 2006. Skyworks' family of InteraTM and InteraLiteTM front-end modules and power amplifiers support all key air interfaces and market segments, expanding the company's highly successful GPRS, EDGE, CDMA and WCDMA product portfolio that are at the heart of over 500 million handsets. About the SKY77531 The SKY77531 is a high-power efficiency transmit and receive quad band 6 x 8 mm FEM with integrated power amplifier control (iPAC®) that contains a quad-band gallium arsenide (GaAs) heterojunction bipolar (HBT) PA, a 1P6T pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor (pHEMT) switch to enable flexible phone layout, and an integrated complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS)-based controller to manage the PA and switch. Its innovative architecture also maintains overall thermal performance and battery life. Designed in a low profile and compact form factor, the SKY77531 also offers a complete transceiver or SoC output-to-antenna and antenna-to-receive surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter solution. Pricing and Availability The SKY77531 will be available for sampling in the second calendar quarter of 2007. For pricing, please contact sales@skyworksinc.com.
