Plextek (www.plextek.com), a leading designer of custom ICs operating at microwave and mm-wave frequencies, will be presenting details of a low cost, SMT packaged, 6 to 18GHz, 0.5W amplifier integrated circuit (IC) at the International Microwave Symposium, the world’s largest microwave conference and exhibition.

The presentation is part of the Microwave Application Seminar (MicroApps) programme, which addresses engineering topics of practical interest to the microwave community and takes place on the show floor as an integral part of the exhibition.

The IC, detailed in Plextek’s presentation, was specifically developed to be able to provide moderate levels of radio frequency power at a very low production cost.

Plextek’s Director of RF Integration, Liam Devlin, said; “The IC was developed on an optically defined 0.25µm gate length PHEMT process, fabricated on 6” diameter wafers. This allows the manufacture of amplifiers at a fraction of the price of currently available parts providing a similar function.”

The exhibition, being held out of the USA for only the second time in its history, will run from June 19th to 21st at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal in Montreal, Canada.
