Taoglas announced an addition to their hugely successful Warrior series, the PA740 antenna, at the 2019 MWC Shanghai.

5G, using 3GPP standardized wireless technology, has been commercially deployed by 15 mobile network operators worldwide, according to 5G Americas, the industry trade association and voice of 5G and LTE for the Americas and TeleGeography (GlobalComms Database).

Ericsson plans to build a “fully automated smart factory” in the U.S. to manufacture advanced antenna systems and small cell radios for 5G. The new facility will begin operations in early 2020.

The U.S. Commerce Department is granting limited exceptions to the export ban imposed on Huawei. Aimed at mobile operators using Huawei equipment and owners of Huawei phones, the 90-day reprieve is not a lifeline for U.S. component suppliers. Most interesting, the exception allows Huawei to continue to engage in 5G standards development through recognized standards bodies.

Qorvo said the export ban on Huawei is expected to reduce this quarter's revenue by some $50 million. For the most recent fiscal year, which ended March 30, Huawei contributed 15 percent of Qorvo's total revenue, approximately $469 million.

Despite weak mobile phone sales in China, Skyworks reported respectable financial performance for fiscal Q2, while focusing on design wins in the broad markets segment and renewed prosperity from the next-generation of mobile phone ramps later this year.
