Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), the global wireless and broadcast infrastructure specialist, announced that it has introduced a new addition to the CompactLine® series of microwave antennas with the release of the 6 GHz Category A SB6-W60B. Featuring a wind-tunnel tested design suited for both tight urban locations and rugged outposts, the SB6-W60B offers a superior radiation pattern for consistent performance with less interference.  

The VITA 67.0, 67.1 and 67.2 standards, which define the RF connector modules for implementation within the OpenVPX™ architecture, have been ratified by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). TE Connectivity's (TE) RF connector modules, which meet these new standards, have been designed for high-reliability, high-density aerospace and defense applications that meet the vibration, environmental and corrosion resistance requirements of VITA 47.

Agilent Technologies Inc. announced the extension of its source-corrected noise-figure measurement capability in PNA-X network analyzers to 43.5 and 50 GHz, while continuing to maintain the highest noise-figure measurement accuracy in the industry. Built directly into the Agilent PNA-X, the technique provides a complete single-connection, multiple-measurement capability for R&D and manufacturing engineers developing and testing low-noise transistors, amplifiers, frequency converters and transmit/receive modules.

Anatech Electronics introduced the Model AS816N335 extremely high Q notch filter designed for 800 MHz GSM applications that has extremely sharp transition characteristics from the stopband to the passbands, and extremely high rejection of -70 dB making. It is an excellent choice for use in base station applications, either indoors or outdoors.

Vectawave Technology Ltd. has been designing and manufacturing power amplifiers for over 15 years. Until recently most of their production was distributed through third parties. In 2011/12 Vectawave invested heavily in a purpose built factory equipped with cutting edge design, build and test facilities and are now in a position to offer amplifiers directly to the market under the Vectawave brand.

The African cellular market is very much pulling in the subscribers. In 3Q-2012, the 54 countries and 1.08 billion people have accumulated 821 million subscriptions, up 16.9% year-on-year, resulting in a cellular subscription penetration of 76.4%. In the first quarter of 2013, cellular penetration will eclipse 80%. Given the fact that a significant percentage of prepaid users maintain more than one active prepaid subscription to minimize interconnection charges, there is still subscriber growth to be had.
