Skyworks introduces a series of voltage-controlled variable attenuators (VVAs) which are designed to have excellent third order input intercept point and superb dynamic range. The devices cover operation from 1.45 to 5.0 GHz, and have control voltages ranging from 0 to 5.0 V. The SKY12232-21, SKY12233-11, SKY12235-11 and SKY12236-11 are optimized for use as low distortion, analog attenuators – centered at 1.95, 2.60, 3.15, and 3.8 GHz.

RFMW Ltd. announces design and sales support for Peregrine Semiconductor’s PE43713, a 7-bit digital step attenuator featuring “glitch-less” attenuation state transitions, 1.8 V control voltage support and extended operating temperature range to 105 degrees Celsius. In another industry first, Passive Plus Inc. now performs 100% partial discharge testing on all leaded capacitors. This added capability continues to enhance the reliability of Passive Plus capacitors for demanding high voltage applications. Partial discharge testing detects faint electrical discharges in multilayer ceramic capacitors under high voltage conditions. Passive Plus discharge testing exceeds the requirements of MIL-PRF-49467.
Richardson RFPD Inc. announced the availability and full design support capabilities for a series of temperature-variable chip attenuators from Aeroflex/Inmet. The Powerfilm™ TCAF N05 Series operates from DC to 12 GHz and is designed to vary -.005 dB/dB/ºC to compensate for temperature-induced system gain variation without requiring a bias or control voltage. These attenuators consist of laser-trimmed thick film resistor elements on an alumina ceramic substrate with a protective paint layer.
