TriQuint Semiconductor Inc. has announced the opening of a new design and support center in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. The facility, known as the New England Design Center (NEDC), is part of TriQuint’s ongoing efforts to work more closely with strategic partners and customers on development of next-generation wireless modules and components. The 15,000 sq. ft. NEDC, located in the Boston suburbs, consolidates design and engineering support activities previously handled at locations in Lowell, MA and Nashua, NH.
"The goal for the new facility is to have a single design center to boost the company’s creativity and foster collaboration among engineers and scientific experts from both TriQuint and our customers in the New England region," said David Pye, vice president of TriQuint Oregon. "The focus for development work at the center is to leverage TriQuint's wireless component expertise and translate that into module solutions for our customers."
Work at the center covers a wide array of gallium arsenide (GaAs) technologies and communication standards.
TriQuint's New England Design Center currently employs a professional staff of 25 engineers. Plans call for the number of engineers to grow at the site. The New England Design Center in Massachusetts is one of three TriQuint design centers. The company’s other design centers are located in Taiwan and Germany. TriQuint manufacturing facilities that also house design groups are located in Hillsboro, OR, Richardson, TX and Orlando, FL.
