On Sunday, June 15th, WUPATEC took part in Workshop WSJ-6 – How to Ensure Flexible and Efficient Use of Spectrum, from Advanced 5G Doherty Power Amplifiers to Digitally Assisted Wideband PA for 6G BTS, held during the IMS2025 conference in San Francisco.

Emmanuel Gatard (WUPATEC) and Shuichi Sakata (Mitsubishi Electric) presented the latest advancements in RF power amplifier architectures and advanced test platforms for sub-20 GHz wireless infrastructure.

The session explored how device technologies and the integration of analog and digital circuits are evolving to meet growing system-level demands — making joint analog/digital optimization a key design requirement.

Key topics included:

  • High-efficiency Doherty power amplifiers for advanced 5G
  • Digitally assisted wideband PAs for 6G base stations
  • The crucial role of advanced test platforms in enabling these developments.

A special thank you to co-authors Peter Abdelmalak and Stéphane Dellier (WUPATEC) and Takuma Torii and Shintaro Shinjo (Mitsubishi Electric) for their valuable contributions.
