Northrop Grumman selected Haigh-Farr as an Outstanding Supplier supporting the OmegA rocket, which will launch national security missions for the U.S. Space Force. OmegA is on track for its first launch in spring of 2021.
“This is a very exciting program for our company and team,” said Norene Farr, CEO of Haigh-Farr. “Not only do these missions align with Haigh-Farr’s commitment to the warfighter and to national security, but they allow our team to do what they do best—develop new, customized technologies and solutions to meet our customers’ needs. We are honored to supply hardware for the OmegA rocket and especially honored for this recognition.”
In order to achieve the high data rate capabilities the OmegA rocket required, Haigh-Farr created an antenna system specifically for their mission profile. This system includes a series of four antennas, each individually selectable, providing full RF power via a directed and focused antenna pattern. This creates optimized coverage to facilitate high-power/high data throughput telemetry transmission. In addition, Haigh-Farr supplies numerous antennas, test hats, and support hardware for guidance navigation and control operations on the OmegA rocket.
Haigh-Farr continues to develop new RF technologies leveraging this concept of directed radiation patterns; and they will be introducing an Electronically Steerable Array Q4 of 2020 as their next step into the arrayed antenna world.
