Keysight Technologies announced it is extending its collaboration with MediaTek to accelerate 5G New Radio (NR) chipset development and testing of 5G NR protocol stacks.

MediaTek will use Keysight’s 5G Protocol R&D Toolset for layer 2 and 3 protocol development, pre-silicon deployment and full stack chipset validation at the sub-6 GHz and millimeter wave frequency bands, using the latest 3GPP release 15 5G NR standards.

Keysight’s 5G Protocol R&D Toolset is part of Keysight’s suite of network emulation solutions, a seamless RF and protocol workflow that enables chipset and device makers to efficiently develop and test evolving 5G standards and the latest 4G standards in a single solution. These solutions accelerate the delivery of new 5G NR products, by leveraging common development tools to eliminate siloed data sets and share design insights across each stage of the device lifecycle.

“Keysight’s network emulation solution portfolio offers the scalability and capabilities the mobile device ecosystem needs for early protocol stack development and chipset validation. We are pleased to engage with MediaTek on these leading 5G technologies.” — Kailash Narayanan, vice president and general manager for wireless devices and operators at Keysight Technologies
