Cree has appointed Thomas Wessel as senior vice president of global sales and marketing, responsible for Wolfspeed’s power and RF segment and Cree’s LED components. Wessel reports to Gregg Lowe, Cree president and CEO.

Wessel has more than 20 years experience in global sales and marketing within the semiconductor industry, serving the automotive, industrial and communications markets. Most recently, he was VP of sales and marketing at NanoSemi, a venture-funded spinoff from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Previously, he was the senior VP of worldwide sales and marketing at Analog Devices and held sales and marketing management roles at Texas Instruments and Atlantik Elektronik.

Wessel received an engineering degree in physics from the University of Applied Sciences Lübeck and completed the advanced management program at IESE Business School. He was a Stevie Awards finalist for “Best Turnaround Executive,” a business awards program recognizing performance.
