Smiths Group plc announces the strategic alignment of three brands in their portfolio into a new business unit. Organized as Smiths Microwave Subsystems the business unit includes the entire organizations at Millitech of Northampton, Mass., Tecom of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Trak of Tampa, Fla. The move is designed to streamline supply chains and quality controls, and to provide OEMs the most innovative subsystem products and services from DC to 500 GHz. The team will continue to use the established brands of Millitech, Tecom and Trak and remain as three separate legal entities to ensure no interruption in the contracting process.

The Microwave Subsystems business unit offers a strong heritage of providing highly specialized standard and custom microwave subsystems, frequency and timing, and antenna solutions to defense and commercial customers. The strategic alignment into a specialized team is centered on providing focused services and customer-driven, high frequency solutions from board-level components to build-to-print manufacturing.

“We’re thrilled to be offering our microwave subsystem customers a unified and unique collection of engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing resources. Each brand has operated under a mantra of operational excellence, and as a unit that commitment is amplified,” said Microwave Subsystems President, David Moorehouse. “We recognize the future is now, and equipment and product solutions alone are not enough. As a supplier, we have to hit on all cylinders to meet our customers’ needs.”

Customers and prospects can continue to connect with their contacts within each brand and shop for and source products and services at each brand’s website at www.millitech.com, www.tecom.com and www.trak.com. New RF, microwave, millimeter wave and integrated digital technologies and products are under development and will be announced soon.

Separately announced, Smiths Group brand Lorch, has joined the Smiths Interconnect business unit.
