Comtech Xicom Technology Inc., a technology leader in high power amplifier products for satellite communications (SATCOM), introduced a new compact, lightweight and highly efficient solid-state Ku-Band block up converter (BUC) designed for transportable satellite communications uplinks.

The Comtech Xicom Technology Model XTS-40KHE-B1 is the perfect solution for commercial and military users ready to take advantage of available Ku-Band capacity. It offers 40 W of P1 output power and provides 20 W of linear power. Breakthroughs in efficiency enable the self-cooled, feed-mountable, amplifier to consume only 210 W when operated at linear power.

The new XTS-40KHE-B1 is packed full of performance features including temperature compensation, gain control, harmonic filtering, receive-band filtering, and an output isolator. All this comes in a compact outdoor unit (ODU) weighing less than 10 pounds and measuring only 11.2" long x 4.4" high x 5.4" wide.

John Branscum, president of Comtech Xicom Technology, Inc., said, "This new Ku-Band BUC features industry-leading efficiency and is targeted at users who need compact and efficient SATCOM amplification. The new Ku-Band BUC has an identical form factor to the 50W X-band BUC, providing a Ku-band option for existing X-band terminals."

A data sheet of the new XTS-40KHE-B1 BUC is available including detailed specifications, functional block diagrams and package outline drawings.
