Autotalks and Altis Semiconductor announced that they have reached a cooperative agreement on the development of Autotalks’ PLUTON automotive grade vehicle-to-vehicle RF transceiver, to be manufactured by Altis Semiconductor. Together with Autotalks' CRATON integrated communication controller, they form a comprehensive, automotive grade, VLSI solution enabling OEMs' deployment of vehicle-to-vehicle in 2015 model year.
Autotalks' extensive lab and field experience enabled the PLUTON optimal RF transceiver solution, which adheres with worldwide standards, while maintaining an overall competitive system cost. Altis' 130nm RF CMOS (ATS-130-RF) process provides the best in class performance with the fully qualified production capability required for the automotive market. Autotalks has further selected to partner, for circuit and system design, with Catena Holding Bv, a worldwide leader in high performance RF IP, with a proven track record in design for automotive applications and high performance IEEE802.11p RF.
The combined efforts of the three technology leaders will provide OEMs and Tier1s with the best vehicle-to-vehicle RF transceiver with the highest level of quality and reliability.
“Altis has a cutting-edge RF CMOS technology and ISO/TS16949 qualified manufacturing and testing capabilities to support volume production" said Nir Sasson, CEO of Autotalks. “Catena's proven RF technology and IEEE802.11p experience strongly complement our system know-how. Together, the companies have formed a strong design and manufacturing partnership to deliver the first to market automotive grade RF to vehicle-to-vehicle market.”
“Autotalks is a market leader in vehicle-to-vehicle communication technology. We are pleased to jointly work with Autotalks to deliver this innovative RF product to market” said Karl Lange, Altis Semiconductor’s Vice President Sales & Marketing. “We are committed to bring our technology and manufacturing strengths to deliver an automotive product with the quality level that has made our reputation in the past 10 years”.
Autotalks’ PLUTON RF transceiver provides worldwide operation supporting U.S., Europe, Japan and Korea specifications in 5.8-5.9GHz and 760MHz bands. PLUTON provides a dual channel IEEE802.11p/ETSI ITS in 5.8-5.9GHz or 5GHz band IEEE802.11a plus a single channel supporting Japan's ARIB STD-T109 760MHz band.
PLUTON surpasses sensitivity, enhanced adjacent channel rejection and transmission mask specifications of IEEE802.11p and ARIB STD-T109 standards. PLUTON supports wide temperature range of -40˚C to +85˚C, and doesn’t require any factory calibration. PLUTON samples will be available in 1H'2013 and will achieve AEC-Q100 qualification in early 2014."We are committed to deliver a comprehensive, high-quality and cost-effective vehicle-to-vehicle VLSI to enable market deployment and improve the safety on our roads." said Nir Sasson, CEO of Autotalks. "PLUTON fills a major gap in the market.”
