NardaFOMDA4015D1_100Narda Low-Cost EML Modulator Driver Serves 40-Gb/s Lightwave Applications.

Narda Microwave-East, an L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) company, today announced the FO-MDA-40-15D-1, a low-cost, high-performance EML driver for 40-Gb/s lightwave communication systems. The device, along with all of Narda's products for lightwave communication systems, will be demonstrated at the ECOC 2008 Conference and Exhibition in Brussels, Belgium, from September 21 to 25, Booth 354.

The FO-MDA-40-15D-1 joins Narda's growing family of products for lightwave systems, including clock oscillators, phase-locked oscillators, lithium niobate and electro-absorptive modulator driver amplifiers, and pulse carver drivers. The FO-MDA-40-15D-1 is optimized for VSR 300-pin MSA SFF transponders. It offers dual inputs that mate directly with standard multiplexers. It operates at a maximum data rate of 44 Gb/s, features electronic eye-crossing control of 40% to 70%, and has variable output between 2.5 and 3.4 Vpp. The driver has a 3-dB bandwidth of 35 GHz and gain at 20 GHz of 23 dB. RMS additive jitter is typically 0.55 ps, and 20%-to-80% rise and fall time is 10 ps. The unit measures 25.32 x 29.46 x 6.35 mm and uses GPPO connectors.

Engineering samples of the FO-MDA-40-15D-1 are now available and production is scheduled for Q1 2009.
