Munich, October 26, 2009 — Rohde & Schwarz is expanding its series of millimeterwave converters with two new models featuring electronically adjustable output power. The R&S ZVA-Z90E and the R&S ZVA-Z110E enable users to analyze the power-dependent behavior of amplifiers and mixers quickly and easily. If a vector network analyzer from Rohde & Schwarz is connected, the compression point, for example, can be determined. In addition, measurements with high level accuracy can be performed. Owing to their frequency ranges of 60 GHz to 90 GHz or 75 GHz to 110 GHz, the millimeterwave converters are being applied in high-frequency research and in the automotive and aerospace & defense industries.
The R&S ZVA-Z90E for the E band and the R&S ZVA-Z110E for the W band can be used in a variety of applications: in the development of components for distance radar or satellite communications systems as well as in applications for radar and microwave links.
Both converter models have a dynamic range of typically >110 dB. Rather than being manually adjusted, their output level can be adjusted electronically in connection with a power calibration and thus with greater accuracy. For example, exact measurements of the compression point can be performed by using a power sweep. Furthermore, the R&S ZVA-Z90E or R&S ZVA-Z110E allow true differential four-port measurements up to 110 GHz, which is unique in this frequency range.
Like the millimeterwave converters already available from Rohde & Schwarz, the two new models can easily be operated using the high-end vector network analyzers of the R&S ZVA or R&S ZVT family. The new converters are fully integrated in the firmware of the vector network analyzers and can be operated as if they are part of the base unit.
The R&S ZVA-Z90E and R&S ZVA-Z110E millimeterwave converters are now available from Rohde & Schwarz.
