Santa Clara, Calif., February 3rd 2009, Computer Simulation Technology (CST) announces the integration of cable, PCB, and EMC/EMI simulation in CST STUDIO SUITE™ 2009 at DesignCon, booth #315.
Design engineers and researchers working on the signal integrity of complex systems containing cables, PCBs, and fully three-dimensional passive components, will benefit from the latest release of CST STUDIO SUITE™. Highly specialized tools such as CST PCB STUDIO™ (CST PCBS) and CST CABLE STUDIO™ (CST CS) are used to study signal propagation on PCBs and cable harnesses, with high efficiency. These tools are part of CST DESIGN ENVIRONMENT™, which also provides access to the market leading time domain solver CST MICROWAVE STUDIO® (CST MWS), for the optimization of full 3D components with respect to signal integrity. The entire system can then be synthesized in CST DESIGN STUDIO™ (CST DS) which is also used to access and modify the individual components of the system.
Signal currents can be used in CST MWS as excitation sources for EMC/EMI analysis. Through this highly integrated workflow, SI and EMC issues can be addressed early in the design process, reducing the number of expensive cut and try iterations.
“CST’s customers have always valued our user-friendly interfaces with industry leading EDA tools,” commented Dr. Martin Timm, Marketing Director, CST. “We now additionally provide a streamlined workflow which comprises the analysis of not only individual components, but also the entire system as well as the resulting EMC/EMI effects.”
CST PCB STUDIO
CST PCB STUDIO™ (CST PCBS) is a specialist tool for the investigation of Signal and Power Integrity and the simulation of EMC and EMI effects on Printed Circuit Boards (PCB). Applications include high speed digital, analog/mixed signal, and power supply. CST PCBS seamlessly integrates into various design flows, calculating parasitic crosstalk effects and simulating the electronic network in time or frequency domain. Of particular interest is the interface with CST MICROWAVE STUDIO® (CST MWS) which enables linking PCB simulations with subsequent full 3D analysis of electromagnetic emissions.
CST CABLE STUDIO
CST CABLE STUDIO™ (CST CS) is focused on the analysis of SI, EMC and EMI effects in cable harness systems. Applications include the optimization of shielding, weight and space consumption on single wires, twisted pairs, and complex cable harnesses with an unlimited number of cables. Typical analyses include voltage distributions on probes, current flow through components, scattering parameters, impedances, and emissions simulation through CST MWS.
Availability
Both tools are available in CST STUDIO SUITE 2009.
