M/A-COM, a business unit of Tyco Electronics and a leading provider of wireless radio frequency (RF), microwave and millimeter wave components, today announced a new RoHS compliant DPDT switch for applications that require ultra high power handling, low insertion loss and high isolation. The MASWSS0184 is a high power switch that maximizes system linearity performance while reducing DC Power consumption.
“We are excited to provide the market with a wide variety of switch products that conform to the standards of the RoHS initiative, which is designed to reduce toxic waste generated by the manufacturing process,” said Kevin Harrington, product development manager of the Integrated Circuits Products Group, M/A-COM, Inc. “With the introduction of this lead-free high power DPDT switch, M/A-COM again confirms its commitment to developing state-of-the-art technology that is cost-effective and environmentally sound while balancing our commitment to the unique needs of all our customers in both the military and commercial markets.”
The MASWSS0184 switch is designed for 802.16 (WiMAX) and MESH network applications that require high power handling at P1dB of 40 dBm, low typical insertion loss of 1.0 dB and a high isolation of 30 dB. Typical applications for this product include two antenna solutions requiring diversity switching in linear systems, thus connecting the receiver and transmitter to both antennas.
For cost sensitive and space constrained applications, the MASWSS0184’s lead-free surface mount 3x3 mm PQFN packaging and competitive pricing are attractive product attributes. The switch is fabricated on a low-cost 0.5-micron gate-length GaAs process with full passivation increasing reliability. Like every switch manufactured by M/A-COM, each MASWSS0184 is 100 percent RF tested to ensure performance compliance.
