AWR Corp. has awarded the top three winning teams of the 2011 International Microwave Symposium High Efficiency Power Amplifier Student Design Contest with fully functional, one-year, personal-use licenses for its popular Microwave Office® and Visual System Simulator™ (VSS) software suites – inclusive of AXIEM™ 3D planar EM software.

The winners are: Junghwan Moon and Juyeon Lee of Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), (Advisor, Bumman Kim); Sergej Werner, Dimitri Pozdniakov, Danish Kalim of UMIC Research Center, RWTH Aachen University, Aachen, Germany, (Advisor, Renato Negra); Kenle Chen of School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University, USA, ( Advisor, Dimitrios Peroulis).

The IMS Student Design Contest challenges students to apply design techniques learned in the classroom to create a novel product. AWR views the IMS Student Design Contest awards as an opportunity to provide students with hands-on software experience that professors and future employers view as mandatory in order to excel in microwave engineering.
