Last night’s Agilent Technologies sponsored EuMW Welcome Reception brought industry and academia together and saw the announcement of Agilent’s future commitment to the reception and EuMW as a whole. The Great Northern Hall, G-MEX was full as conference delegates from the Week’s four conferences and the exhibitors from the European Microwave Exhibition took the rare opportunity to meet, interact and network. All in a convivial atmosphere.

The reception began with three speeches from the 2006 EuMW Conference Chairman, Chris Snowden, his successor for Munich in 2007, Wolfgang Heinrich and Agilent Technologies’ European Marketing Manager, Olivier Grimaud. Snowden began by welcoming everyone and thanking them for their attendance and support at the conferences and exhibition. Heinrich added his thanks and extended his invitation to all to attend Munich with the enticement of, “a nice city, fine conference and exhibition halls and the Oktoberfest”.

2006 is the fifth consecutive year that Agilent Technologies has been the Platinum Sponsor of EuMW and Grimaud announced, “ I am absolutely delighted tonight to announce that we will again be the Platinum Sponsor of the event in Munich next year.”

In his keynote address he also stated, “Communication technology is changing at an outstanding rate while proliferation and complexity continues to challenge the industry.” He expressed his company’s pride in being a participant in this dialogue and the important role that the Week’s workshops and events play in extending such dialogue. Finally Grimaud presented two HP Digital cameras and the latest I-pod video in the Agilent Prize Draw before the wine flowed, good food was consumed and the socialising began.
