API Technologies Corp., a provider of RF/microwave, microelectronics, security, and power solutions for critical and high-reliability applications, announced its new Rugged Mobile 150 Amp DC Power Rectifier. The Rugged Mobile Rectifier is a portable commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) multi-application solution designed for powering C4ISR command and control communications systems and other defense-based electronics.
The Rugged DC Rectifier can accept power from generators or community power and converts AC power to 28 Volts of DC power. Sources of power supply to the rectifier can be one of three different AC inputs. The unit features weatherproof construction, can withstand extreme temperatures from -40° to 60°C and extreme environments including shock, vibration, sand, dust and heavy precipitation.
"API has a heritage in designing and developing rugged power distribution solutions for harsh environments," said Tracy Shaffer, Senior Vice President/Business Manager, Power & Systems Solutions, RF/Microwave & Microelectronics, API Technologies. "API has engineered solutions to meet or exceed MIL-STD 810 and MIL-STD 461 compliance including thermal shock, waterproofing, shock & vibration, sand, humidity, EMC compliance, and more."
The 150 Amp Rugged DC Rectifier includes an intelligent battery charger that delivers 28 volts of DC power @ 10A to a connected vehicle battery. Features of this new Rectifier include: built-in soft-start, circuit protection, transient voltage suppression, automatic over-temperature shut down, remote monitoring and control, and "push to view" status indicators. In addition, an embedded network module provides remote access to monitor critical parameters including internal temperature, current draw, and battery charge.
