Digitally Controlled Vector Modulator

This PROM compensated device is designed to provide accurate phase shift at constant amplitude over a broad frequency range. The RF portion incorporates a 2-way power divider whose outputs feed a 0° and a –90° phase shift network feeding into I and Q modulators which are combined into an amplifier. The digital section includes an 8-bit input feeding two 12-bit PROM modules containing the control signals that drive the I and Q channels of the vector modulator for each of the 512 possible digital input words. This merger of RF and digital technology results in a product offering good electrical performance at a competitive cost. Typical electrical performance is as follows: Frequency Range: 2.6 – 10.2 GHz RF input/output level: 10dBm Phase Control: 8 binary bits Phase Range: 0 to 360° Phase Linearity: < 2° error Differential Accuracy: +/- 0.5° Harmonic Distortion: < -40dBc Spurious Emissions: < -90dBc
