Anokiwave Inc., an innovative company providing highly integrated core IC solutions for mmW markets and AESA based solutions, announced the latest addition to its leadership team and the expansion into the Asia-Pacific region with the appointment of Alan Chang to the position of Director of Asia-Pacific sales.

According to ABI Research, Asia-Pacific regional growth in basestations will outpace all other regions this year as it continues to account for the majority of worldwide basestation deployments. The Asia-Pacific region now becomes the largest market for LTE, followed by North America and Western Europe, with the Asia-Pacific regional installed base growing to 8X in 2014.

Worldwide LTE-related subscriptions reached 229.7 million in 2013, and will continually grow at a CAGR of 43.6% between 2013 and 2019, to exceed 2 billion. By the end of 2013, LTE-TDD subscribers accounted for 5% of the LTE market, while 94.2% of the LTE market was taken up by LTE-FDD.

ABI Research expects the market for in-building wireless equipment and deployments to grow to over $8 billion in 2019, up from a forecast $4.4 billion for 2014 representing a 14% compound annual growth rate (CAGR).

eMarketer expects 4.55 billion people worldwide to use a mobile phone in 2014. Mobile adoption is slowing, but new users in the developing regions of Asia-Pacific and the Middle East and Africa will drive further increases. Between 2013 and 2017, mobile phone penetration will rise from 61.1% to 69.4% of the global population, according to a new eMarketer report, “Worldwide Mobile Phone Users: H1 2014 Forecast and Comparative Estimates.”

LTE network deployments will continue to grow rapidly globally. Time-division duplex (TDD) network is picking up the pace and gaining more market traction. In Asia-Pacific, LTE-TDD networks will cover more than 53% of the population by 2018 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 41.1% between 2012 and 2018, while frequency-division duplex (FDD) networks will reach 49% population coverage by the end of 2018.

LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) subscriptions will take an important role in the mobile subscriber market, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 295% between 2013 and 2018 to reach 500 million, which will represent 34% of the overall 1.47 billion LTE-related subscriptions. Meanwhile, total LTE subscriptions for 1Q-2013 increased by 37.5% quarter-on-quarter, reaching 108 million.

In 4Q-2012, the LTE subscription in Asia-Pacific has increased by 60.92 percent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ), reaching 34.6 million.
