xG Technology Inc. (xG) business unit Integrated Microwave Technologies (IMT), a leader in advanced digital microwave systems serving the law enforcement, broadcast, sports and entertainment markets, announced it has received a $450,000 order from a state investigation bureau located in the South Atlantic region (“ the Bureau”) for the IMT Airborne Video Downlink System (AVDS).

Microsemi Corp. announced six new monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) products, including four wideband low noise MMIC amplifiers (MMA040AA, MMA041AA, MMA043AA and MMA044AA) and two wideband GaAs MMIC switches (MMS006AA and MMS008AA). The new MMIC products are ideally suited for test and measurement, electronic warfare and radar applications.

BAE Systems has opened the £15.6 million Academy for Skills & Knowledge training academy, marking the single largest investment in skills for the UK’s aerospace sector.

In a filing with the SEC, Cree stated that Infineon’s acquisition of Cree’s Wolfspeed subsidiary is proceeding through the regulatory review process, including the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States. Cree and Infineon believe the transaction will close in February 2017.

Cobham is working with Harris Corp. to provide automated test and alignment capabilities for Harris XL-200P P25 radios using the Cobham 3920B Digital Radio Test Set. The Harris XL-200P is a multiband portable radio that supports P25 communications on VHF, UHF, and 700/800 MHz spectrum.

Lockheed Martin was awarded a $1.2 billion contract to upgrade 134 F-16 aircraft for the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF). Among the enhancements are an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, a modern commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)-based avionics subsystem, a large-format, high-resolution center pedestal display and a high-volume and high-speed data bus.

The European Defence Agency received its first budget increase after a six-year freeze when officials from London declined to veto the raise. The move boosts the agency's annual budget from $32.7 million in 2016 to $33.1 million in 2017. All European Union countries except Denmark are affected by the decision, IHS Janes reports.
