Bolstering its commitment to grow its managed network services business, Harris Stratex Networks Inc., a provider of wireless solutions that enable the evolution of next-generation fixed and mobile broadband networks, announced the commissioning of its state-of-the-art network operations center (NOC) at its Morrisville, NC-based headquarters. The NOC was inaugurated last week by Harris Stratex President and CEO Harald Braun. The center will centrally monitor, manage and control networks for enterprise, carrier, and state and local government customers.

The new Harris Stratex NOC is designed to manage and monitor multi-vendor, multi-protocol network infrastructure, including various subscriber access, 4G/WiMAX access, IP backhaul and core network technologies, as well as network elements providing energy, security and surveillance controls. It provides around-the-clock network surveillance, performance monitoring and trouble ticket management for voice, video and data networks. The center monitors customer networks to identify network problems before they can impact business functions or productivity, and seeks to resolve issues remotely from the NOC or by dispatching technicians to customer sites. The center, which is located in a secured environment with 24-hour on-premise security, is staffed and monitored by a team of engineers and technicians.

At the NOC dedication event, which was attended by several local officials, Keith Donahue, vice president of the Global Network Services business at Harris Stratex, stated, “We are excited to open our cutting-edge network operations center, a vibrant, 24-7 operation from which we monitor and manage networks for customers worldwide. This new facility represents a central element of our company’s long-term strategy to provide solutions that create, expand and manage the fabric of next-generation global communications networks, and it demonstrates our continued commitment to North Carolina and the Research Triangle Park region.”

Harris Stratex Global Network Services (GNS) is growing its end-to-end portfolio of extensive professional services and now has expanded its focus to include managed network services that revolve around operating customers’ networks. With its GNS business, Harris Stratex offers managed network services so customers can focus on their core business with the peace of mind that their network is being managed 24X7X365 by experts who can proactively manage, troubleshoot and optimize their networks. Managed network services offerings are tailored to meet customers’ specific service-level agreements that meet their business needs and contractual agreements to provide seamless service to their end-users.

"We have learned during the years that telecom service providers are looking for more than just 'break/fix' activities," said Kaily Bissani, Harris Stratex, principal and managed services solutions architect. "Our managed NOC services solutions use service assurance tools and processes that quickly and efficiently resolve issues. It implies a proactive rather than reactive approach to service quality, enabling our customers to focus on delivering innovative services that attract and retain customers."
