Vector Fields Ltd., a provider of electromagnetic engineering software, has introduced a new variant of Concerto™, its advanced RF and microwave design software. ConcertoES™ offers 3d Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) analysis at a fraction of the cost of the full version, but with no compromise to performance or accuracy.

The new variant is being introduced with the release of Concerto version 6. It comprises Concerto’s advanced 3d geometric modeller and FDTD solver, and is a fully capable electromagnetic design suite with a maximum model size that is sufficient for many applications in RF and microwave design. ConcertoES is the ideal package where cost of ownership is particularly important.

ConcertoES offers exceptional value for money and can be upgraded easily to the full-scale version of the design suite. Both versions use the same geometric modeller and model formats remain the same, making it easy to reuse models across the range.

Vector Fields managing director, Kevin Ward, explains why the new variant of Concerto has been introduced: “Reducing the cost of FDTD modelling is a significant step to take. Whilst the full scale version is competitively priced, we were aware that not everyone can afford, or needs, all of the advanced capabilities that it provides. That is why we decided to introduce ConcertoES allowing engineers to pay less for top design performance.”

In addition to the launch of ConcertoES, the new version 6 of Concerto heralds a host of new features and enhancements to Concerto. Already leading the field in speed, accuracy, easy of use and all-round capability, Concerto now has a much-improved modeller with history and parameterisation tools, an enhanced MoM solver with special features for predicting installed antenna performance, improved optimisation technology, an auto mesh refinement tool and a link to AWR Microwave Office. Users can also opt for a Linux 64-bit version, and a new Finite Element solver for eigen value analysis.
