Anritsu Company expands its 5G test portfolio with the introduction of the device under test (DUT) holder MA8179A-AK011, the first solution to support all the possible alignment options defined and permitted in 3GPP namely Alignment Options 1/2/3. Developed as a DUT Holder for the CATR Anechoic Chamber MA8172A, the MA8179A-AK011 helps ensure accurate repeatable measurements can be made on 5G new radio (NR) UE supporting frequency range 2 mmWave bands. It also provides OEMs greater flexibility to position their devices as needed without having to worry about antenna array on the UE getting blocked by holder or having the need to create a custom UE holder.

The DUT Holder MA8179A-AK011 integrates into the CATR Anechoic Chamber MA8172A, which meets the 3GPP RF/RRM Conformance Test recommendations. A fixed jig for test terminals that is mounted on the Positioner MA8179A to auto-control the test-terminal position, the DUT Holder MA8179A-AK011 satisfies the Quality of Quiet Zone recommendation for the 3GPP RF/RRM Conformance Test. It also simplifies test-terminal mounting/dismounting in the test chamber.

The DUT Holder MA8179A-AK011 has been developed to address the market need for reproducible test results and to facilitate the introduction of mmWave terminals to the market. Measurement and positional reproducibility are enhanced with the DUT Holder MA8179A-AK011, as it is mounted in the exact the same position in the CATR Anechoic Chamber MA8172A each time. Robust engineering-plastics construction assures excellent durability with minimum impact on signals.

The CATR Anechoic Chamber MA8172A uses the 3GPP-compliant compact antenna test range (CATR) method to implement 5G NR OTA tests in a small space. It can be used for mmWave development and conformance tests of 5G NR chipsets, devices, and UE. Designed especially for the Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A / NR RF Conformance Test System ME7873NR, the CATR Anechoic Chamber MA8172A has excellent compatibility with 5G mmWave test equipment.
