Peter Rabbeni has been promoted to lead the RF business at GLOBALFOUNDRIES, a role responsible for the company’s RF technology portfolio, business development and product line financial performance.

Rabbeni has more than 30 years experience in RF technology, circuits and systems, including positions in product development, field applications engineering, marketing, technical sales and business development. He joined GLOBALFOUNDRIES in October 2012 and supported the company’s acquisition of the IBM Microelectronics specialty foundry business in 2015.

From 2010 to 2012, Rabbeni served as the worldwide business development program director for the IBM Microelectronics foundry business, where he helped focus the 200 mm foundry offerings on capturing silicon content in front-end modules. This was one of the most successful and profitable design-win periods in the division’s history, yielding more than $3 billion in long-term revenue and more than 40 billion RFSOI products shipped for smartphone and Wi-Fi front-ends.

Rabbeni joined IBM in 2001, holding leadership roles in foundry sales and marketing before assuming business development and strategy responsibility for the foundry business. Prior to IBM, he held various RF systems and design engineering positions at Ericsson, Raytheon and the U.S. Army Millimeter Wave Lab.

Rabbeni, a member of IEEE, received a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology in 1986 and a master’s in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts in 1991.

He has co-authored several papers, written trade journal articles and blogs and speaks regularly on RF trends and technology development at conferences.
