Fractus Antennas has just launched a new reference design that explains how to use the TRIO mXTEND™ chip antenna component to get the GNSS and mobile frequency bands at the same time. Because of its modular, multiband and multiport configuration, the same antenna component can be adjusted to cover, among others, the frequency bands for the global navigation satellite systems (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou), while it covers worldwide 2G, 3G and 4G.

TRIO mXTEND™ is the newest member of the Virtual Antenna™ family, and it is the only one with a multiport configuration, which means the chip antenna component can be tuned at two different frequency regions simultaneously by properly adjusting the matching network. This component is in an ultra-slim, off-the-shelf package of only 1 mm height, easily assembled into virtually any device.

The double feature of the TRIO mXTEND — multiport and the off-the-shelp form factor — makes this antenna component well-suited for projects where covering multiple communication standards is a must: fleet management, automotive or IoT, the new generation of “connected things.”
