DragonWave Inc. has been acquired by Transform-X, a U.S.-based, privately held company. The new company will operate as DragonWave-X and will expand its portfolio with new radio solutions that integrate "disruptive waveform, antenna and hardware technologies" for 5G backhaul.

Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario, DragonWave's carrier-grade point-to-point packet microwave systems have been installed around the world in next-generation IP networks.

Transform-X, headquartered in Tucson, Arizona has acquired rights to several patented technologies that offer dramatic increases in bandwidth and efficiencies for existing wireless and wired networks.
