Munich, February 28, 2008 —The R&S RFEX-Fast EMF measurement software from Rohde & Schwarz enables engineers and technicians to quickly and easily validate compliance with legally defined emission limits. Network operators, test houses, service providers, and regulatory authorities can all benefit from its efficiency and ease of use. The portable one-box measurement system together with the R&S FSL spectrum analyzer and the R&S TS-EMF isotropic antenna is especially suitable for performing measurements outdoors or in highly inaccessible locations.

The compact R&S RFEX-Fast software solution is designed for measurements on equipment such as base stations and broadcast transmitters; plus, it is also ideal for fixed-site transmission systems or WLAN infrastructures. The software performs the measurements in a matter of seconds and displays the individual radio services. Engineers and technicians can see at a glance whether minimum and maximum limits, such as those defined by ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection), have been violated. A simple maximum search of the electromagnetic field strength can also be performed. The software is easy to configure because the radio services are solely defined by their frequency range. This permits the system to adapt quickly to the measurement task. The results can be interpreted immediately since the sum value of the field strength is output directly.

The software supports several Rohde & Schwarz spectrum analyzers, thus extending manual measurement capabilities beyond EMF. When used with the appropriate spectrum analyzers, the EMF measurement software can also handle measurements of new radio services above 3 GHz such as WiMAX and WLAN 802.11a/h signals. Moreover, the tried-and-tested R&S-RFEX software enables further analysis of the data obtained.

The R&S RFEX-Fast software for the measurement of RF emissions will be available from Rohde & Schwarz as of spring 2008 at a starting price of EUR 3,500.
