WR-10 Waveguide to 1 mm Coax Adapters

May 29, 2013

2012-06 SWC-101F-R1 and SWC-101M-R1 (2)Model SWC-101F-R1 and SWC-101M-R1 are W band waveguide to 1 mm coaxial adapters. These adapters offer convenient mean for waveguide to coaxial line connection for full W band operations. Both WR-10 waveguide to 1mm (F) and WR-10 waveguide to1 mm (M) coax adapters have less than 1.0 dB insertion loss and better than 15 dB return loss from 75 to 110 GHz.

Choosing the Right RF Cable Assembly

January 16, 2013

Because coaxial cable assemblies are so vital to such a wide range of systems, from rugged ground-based electronic systems to orbiting satellites in space, the selection process for those cables should not be treated lightly. Choosing the right coaxial cable assembly is not a trivial task, but it is one that can be made somewhat easier by better knowing what to look for in a high-frequency or high-speed coaxial cable assembly.

Optimize Your RF/MW Coaxial Connections

October 23, 2012

RF/microwave connectors are small and often overlooked, but they serve as gateways for many electronic devices and systems, linking components and systems together to enable proper operation. Coaxial connectors are often taken for granted—until they fail. They are instrumental to the operation of many electronic devices and systems, from cellular telephones and wireless data networks to the most advanced radar and electronic-warfare (EW) systems. Whether designing or simply maintaining electronic devices and systems, understanding the role of the RF/microwave connector can help to boost both performance and reliability.

Application Guide to RF Coaxial Connectors and Cables

August 13, 2012
There is a wide variety of coaxial connectors and cables available for use in the RF and Microwave spectrum. While often not much thought is given to these essential components, a misstep here can result in undesirable system degradation. Given that typical RF systems are comprised of any number of items, e.g. RF generators, amplifiers, attenuators, power meters, couplers, antennas, etc., it is not uncommon that a great deal of thought is given to these “high end devices while mundane items such as connectors and cables are often treated as an afterthought".

Intermodulation Distortion in RF Connectors

July 17, 2012
Intermodulation distortion or IMD has always existed in RF transmission paths. Until about the early 1990s, cellular communications had relatively low power carrier levels. Intermodulation distortion in passive devices was not necessarily a problem because the distortion levels were significantly below the noise floor of the broadcast system. Typical RF connectors such as the N connector satisfied the earlier demands but as the sensitivity of the receivers increased, a condition within RF connectors was exposed.
