Military Microwaves Supplement
The 38th European Microwave Conference (EuMC) that will be held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, from 28 to 30 October, is the core of European Microwave Week 2008, the largest event in Europe dedicated to microwave electronics.
The European Microwave Conference is the premier forum for the presentation of the actual status and future trends in the field of microwave and millimetre-wave systems, technologies and applications. A broad range of high-frequency related topics, from materials and technologies to integrated circuits, systems and applications will be addressed in all their aspects: theory, simulation, design and measurement. Examples include the latest developments for modelling and design of microwave photonics and MEMS, RFID and Ultra Wide Band Systems, new linearization techniques and the impact of new packaging technologies on development applications.
Special emphasis will be placed on the application of microwave technologies in field of homeland security and medical systems, both areas with increasing attention and opportunities for microwave technologies. The scope also includes electromagnetic field theory, theoretical and experimental developments in wave propagation, scattering and antenna systems, and advanced simulation techniques. In addition to scientific papers, contributions are encouraged on industrial applications, covering the fields of instrumentation, medical, telecommunication, radar, space, automotive and defence systems.
In order to reach a wider audience, the presenters of posters will be offered a time slot in an interactive posters session. This interactive poster session will be held jointly with EURAD during a separate timeslot without EUMC and EURAD oral sessions. This should optimise poster session attendance. During this session the authors can present real-time operation of developed hardware or software or demonstrate movies (or slide-shows) showing operation of complete systems. Tables and power will be provided. This interactive poster session will be combined with the regular EUMC-EURAD joint poster session.

The EuMC is the perfect event to keep up to date with recent achievements in the RF, microwave and millimetre-wave domain. The EuMC provides many opportunities to network and interact with international experts in a wide variety of specialities, attracting delegates with academic and industrial backgrounds. With more than 300 selected papers in about 60 oral and poster sessions, the conference represents an exciting forum for the presentation and discussion of the most recent advances in the microwave area. Focused sessions and Workshops will complement the programme. Proposals for focused sessions should be submitted before 2 December 2007 to the EuMC Chairman.
EuMC Microwave Prize
The Technical Programme Committee of the EuMC and the EuMW Steering Committee will award the EuMC Microwave Prize of €5,000 to the author(s) of the best contributed paper to the 38th European Microwave Conference. The winning paper will be considered for publication in the EuMA Proceedings.
EuMC Young Engineers Prizes
The Technical Programme Committee of the EuMC and EuMW Steering Committee will award two EuMC Young Engineers Prizes of €2,000 each to young engineers or researchers who have presented an outstanding paper at the European Microwave Conference. To be eligible candidates must be (1) aged 30 or younger at the date of the award, (2) the first author of the paper, (3) the presenter either of an oral or poster session. The number of co-authors should not exceed three. Applicants must state the purpose to which the prize will be put. The successful applicant may use part of the prize to fund attendance at the following year’s European Microwave Conference. Winning papers will be considered for publication in the EuMA Proceedings.
Reduced Fees and Special Grants
Reduced fees are implemented for students as well as senior persons aged 65 years or more. The European Microwave Association will also provide up to 10 student grants consisting of €500, plus the reduced registration fee for the EuMC. Applications should be sent to the EuMC Chairman by 1 June 2008.
The European Microwave Association will also provide a number of grants for delegates coming from NIS countries or Russia. The value of the grants is €500 plus the reduced registration fee for the EuMC. Applications should be sent to the EuMC Chairman by 1 June 2008.
