Carlisle Interconnect Technologies’ (CarlisleIT) president, John Berlin was awarded the 2013 WCMA Distinguished Career Award by the Wire & Cable Manufacturers Alliance Inc. (WCMA) on April 13th, 2013. This award is given to notable individuals in the Wire & Cable industry based on their significant commercial or technical contributions over a minimum 25-year industry career. Selected by a group of 100 previous recipients, Berlin was chosen because of his leadership of Carlisle Interconnect Technologies as president that has taken the company from $20 million in revenue to over $500 million. Strategically acquiring new business units and focusing on evolving needs in the wire and cable industry with new product development has changed CarlisleIT to be the globally recognized company that it is today.

This award also bases its selection criteria on the credibility and character of the individuals nominated. Berlin’s background in engineering has really shaped the forward momentum of CarlisleIT’s growth from just high performance wire and cable to a full interconnect offering that includes military and aerospace electrical contacts; RF/Microwave connectors; specialty and filtered connectors; cable assemblies; complex harnesses; integrated installation kits; lightweight ARINC trays; aerospace rack and shelf assemblies; certification services with DER, DAR, and DMIR personnel on staff and offers engineering support for applications in the commercial aerospace, military and defense electronics, industrial, medical and test and measurement industries.

Industry mentorship is another of the items that the WCMA bases its award on and Mr. Berlin’s contribution in this regard was recently highlighted in the media. CarlisleIT’s headquarters in St. Augustine, FL is hosting a joint program with St. Johns County Technical High School to expose students to a career in manufacturing and factory operations. John Berlin is also an acting Board Member of the St. Johns County Education Foundation.
